Domain changes after launch

A domain isn't a set-and-forget setting. As your business grows, you'll often need to add a new email address, set up a separate address for a new tool, or change some technical setting — and all of that can be done without moving the site or starting over.

What changes most often

  • new mailboxes — e.g. when a second dentist joins the practice and needs an address alongside the existing contact@
  • a subdomain — a separate address like bookings.yourcompany.com, often for an integration with an external tool
  • other DNS records — technical settings needed, for example, to connect a newsletter or verify your domain with another service

Whose account it is, and who makes the changes

The domain account is registered to you, and you are its owner. We have the access you granted us so we could set up the site — like a key cut for a trusted tradesperson, not handing over the whole flat. So you can make a change yourself, or ask us to do it.

It's better not to change domain settings — the DNS records — by feel. One wrongly entered record can take your email or your site offline. If you ask us to do it, describe what you need, and we'll work out how to set it up without breaking anything that already works. We quote a change like this as a one-off job, at our current hourly rate, unless you have ongoing care and it falls within its scope — see What's included in ongoing support, and what's billed separately.

New mailboxes

Email on your domain is a separate service: setting it up is an add-on to your package (included in Expert), and you pay the subscription for each mailbox directly to the email provider. If you already have email set up, you can usually add another mailbox yourself in the provider's panel, with no changes to the domain. We explain how it all works in Email on your own domain.
